After Mas is a short film from Trinidadian filmmaker Karen Martinez. It tells the story of a love that flourishes during J’ouvert in Port-of-Spain. Shot in Trinidad in February 2013 during Carnival, we experience the charge of this bacchanalian drama before following the characters return to their separate lives. Can these young lovers from very different backgrounds stay true to their desires?

Karen Martinez is a Trinidadian who has produced and directed several documentaries. She won Best Short Award at the Trinidad & Tobago Film Festival 2013 and won the Caribbean Spirit Award at The Caribbean Tales Festival in Toronto. She is currently working on her first feature-length film.
